Special Programs


FALL OPEN HOUSE/FAMILY NIGHT - Held annually in late September/early October. Parents are invited to meet teachers and visit classrooms. Refreshments follow. This event is sponsored by SFLC Parents’ Group.

THANKSGIVING FEAST - Held annually before Thanksgiving. Children in Toddler - Kindergarten classes participate in a feast in celebration of the first Thanksgiving. Teachers assist children in making Pilgrim & Indian hats and placemats. Each class prepares a dish to share at the Feast. Notes are sent to parents prior to the Feast explaining children’s contributions; dishes are prepared during classroom time. Parents’ Group volunteers assist with preparation, serving and cleanup.

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM - Directed by Music Teacher and presented on an evening in early December in First Methodist Church Sanctuary. This SFLC annual traditional program presents the story of the Nativity in song and narration. Three-year-old through Kindergarten students participate. Kindergarten students are provided with Biblical costumes. A reception follows.

SPRING PARENT PROGRAM - Directed by Drama/Creative Expression Teacher and assisted by Music, Motor and Spanish teachers. Two-year-old through Kindergarten classes participate. Each year a special theme is selected, and children perform related songs and activities. Kindergarten students traditionally present a special dance.
